Back to anti-patterns

Intent

Use media as evidence and usable content rather than as interchangeable atmosphere.

Checks

  • Verify the primary subject is recognizable and materially inspectable in the first relevant viewport.
  • For commerce and object-focused pages, reject generic gradients, blobs, abstract geometry, or exploded decorative pieces as the primary product image.

Warnings

  • Decorative overlays can hide detail and weaken trust.

Exceptions

  • Atmospheric media may lead a narrative experience when detailed inspection is not the user goal.
